We will be waiting for you at Kilimanjaro International Airport. Then, we’ll go to Moshi, capital of Kilimanjaro, where we will spend our first night. Before the welcome dinner, we will visit the forest of Colobos, where we will be able to observe its peculiar and friendly primates.
Early, after breakfast, we will leave in our vehicle to Kilimanjaro’s National Park. From the entrance gate of Londorossi (2,100 mt) we will begin our bike safari ascending and crossing the rain forest, which we’ll leave behind as we reach higher altitudes. On the Shira plateau, known as The Cathedral because of the mountain peaks that can be observed. The landscape is totally different. There can be found alpine steppes and with a breathtaking view of the snowy summit of Kilimanjaro. Once being back at the Londorossi gate, we charge our bikes in our vehicle to go to Olpopongi Maasai Village.
Before dark, we will arrive at the Massai village of Olpopongi, where we will spend the night and be warmly welcomed by our Maasais friends, enjoying a succulent and traditional Maasai barbecue with them, around a cozy bonfire.
After breakfast with the tribe, they will give us an effusive farewell to transfer us in our vehicle to the gate of Arusha National Park. We will start our game drive through the park, warming up engines. Then, we’ll perform a bike safari through the park, accompanied by an armed ranger. this route is granted exclusively by the park authorities. We will ride our bikes through a lush tropical forest, full of magic sounds and in which we will have the opportunity to cross with its autochthonous fauna.
Before leaving the national park, we will make a walking safari together with an armed ranger to the base of the most beautiful waterfall in the park, only accessible for the more adventurous, where we will be able to contemplate the fauna that lurks in its surroundings until reaching its waters, place where they quench their thirst. We will eat our lunch box right there and the bravest ones among you will be able to cool-off in its crystalline and cold waters, sourced by the volcano Meru.
Leaving the park, we will go to the village of Mto Wa Mbu, where we will stay in Twiga campsite.
As always, we will get up early to head out to the great Ngorongoro volcano. We will travel to Karatu in our safari truck. This village is located between the mountainous hills of the Ngorongoro. Then, we will go down into the most famous crater in the world (Unesco heritage) in a descent of more than 400 meters. It impresses the great amount of wild fauna concentrated in the caldera, where the predators have a daily “free buffet”.
Hopefully, we will have the privilege of seeing the black rhinoceros, which lives in the crater. This is one of the most endangered species in the world.
We will have lunch at a picnic site on the lake, a hippo pool of fresh water that is inside the caldera and which is inhabited by many hippos.
We will sleep in Rhino Lodge, located on the crown of the crater of the volcano of Eden. This is a closed lodge, due to the low temperatures that are during the night, We’ll spend the night at 2,300 meters of altitude.
Early in the morning, after having a great breakfast, we will travel by truck a few kilometers to start our safari in the Maasai village of Nainokanoka, in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. We will go to the crater of Empakaai, where you can find grazing zebras next to the cattle of the Maasais. We have been selected by the body that protects the conservation area of Ngorongoro as an exclusive team to practice the sport we love the most, mountain biking. We will enjoy an exclusive route through one of the most beautiful places in the world.
We will ascend to the crest of the Empakaai volcano, more striking to observe than the one in Ngorongoro’s, for its perfect circular shape and its impressive lake of deep alkaline waters. We’ll leave the bikes and have lunch. Then we will prepare for a trek of 4 km, by which we will descend to the base of the volcano Empakaai, where the lake is and where we will have the opportunity to see a great amount of animal fauna. We will do this while being accompanied by an armed ranger.
We will spend the night next to a park ranger in our wild camping site, on the crest of the crater, in the tents of the the special Empakaai camp.
Given the exclusive protection of the area in which it is located, no construction is allowed, so the bathroom will be portable and there will be shower.
Also, we will have a private chef who will prepare a delicious menu in a portable kitchen.
Once we have finished the fabulous breakfast prepared by our cook, we will get on the truck to enjoy a great panoramic view of the Ngorongoro caldera while descending from the top of the crater, towards Mto Wa Mbu.
