The Adventure Begins!

 Day 1 

Arrival at the airport:  KILIMANJARO 

Accomodation:  HONEY BADGER LODGE  [Full-board]

We will be waiting for you at Kilimanjaro International Airport. Then, we’ll go to Moshi, capital of Kilimanjaro, where we will spend our first night. Before the welcome dinner, we will visit the forest of Colobos, where we will be able to observe its peculiar and friendly primates.

 Day 2 

 KILIMANJARO  National Park

Accomodation:  OLPOPONGI MAASAI  [Full-board]

Early, after breakfast, we will leave in our vehicle to Kilimanjaro’s National Park. From the entrance gate of Londorossi (2,100 mt) we will begin our bike safari ascending and crossing the rain forest, which we’ll leave behind as we reach higher altitudes. On the Shira plateau, known as The Cathedral because of the mountain peaks that can be observed. The landscape is totally different. There can be found alpine steppes and with a breathtaking view of the snowy summit of Kilimanjaro. Once being back at the Londorossi gate, we charge our bikes in our vehicle to go to Olpopongi Maasai Village.

Before dark, we will arrive at the Massai village of Olpopongi, where we will spend the night and be warmly welcomed by our Maasais friends, enjoying a succulent and traditional Maasai barbecue with them, around a cozy bonfire.

 Day 3 

 ARUSHA  National Park

Accomodation:  TWIGA CAMPSITE MTO WA MBU  [Full-board]

After breakfast with the tribe, they will give us an effusive farewell to transfer us in our vehicle to the gate of Arusha National Park. We will start our game drive through the park, warming up engines. Then, we’ll perform a bike safari through the park, accompanied by an armed ranger. this route is granted exclusively by the park authorities. We will ride our bikes through a lush tropical forest, full of magic sounds and in which we will have the opportunity to cross with its autochthonous fauna.

Before leaving the national park, we will make a walking safari together with an armed ranger to the base of the most beautiful waterfall in the park, only accessible for the more adventurous, where we will be able to contemplate the fauna that lurks in its surroundings until reaching its waters, place where they quench their thirst. We will eat our lunch box right there and the bravest ones among you will be able to cool-off in its crystalline and cold waters, sourced by the volcano Meru.

Leaving the park, we will go to the village of Mto Wa Mbu, where we will stay in Twiga campsite.

 Day 4 

 NGORONGORO  Conservation Area

Accommodation:  RHINO LODGE  [Full-board]

As always, we will get up early to head out to the great Ngorongoro volcano. We will travel to Karatu in our safari truck. This village is located between the mountainous hills of the Ngorongoro. Then, we will go down into the most famous crater in the world (Unesco heritage) in a descent of more than 400 meters. It impresses the great amount of wild fauna concentrated in the caldera, where the predators have a daily “free buffet”.

Hopefully, we will have the privilege of seeing the black rhinoceros, which lives in the crater. This is one of the most endangered species in the world.

We will have lunch at a picnic site on the lake, a hippo pool of fresh water that is inside the caldera and which is inhabited by many hippos.

We will sleep in Rhino Lodge, located on the crown of the crater of the volcano of Eden. This is a closed lodge, due to the low temperatures that are during the night, We’ll spend the night at 2,300 meters of altitude.

 Day 5 

 NGORONGORO  Conservation Area

Accomodation:  SPECIAL CAMP EMPAKAAI  [Full-board]

Early in the morning, after having a great breakfast, we will travel by truck a few kilometers to start our safari in the Maasai village of Nainokanoka, in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. We will go to the crater of Empakaai, where you can find grazing zebras next to the cattle of the Maasais. We have been selected by the body that protects the conservation area of Ngorongoro as an exclusive team to practice the sport we love the most, mountain biking. We will enjoy an exclusive route through one of the most beautiful places in the world.

We will ascend to the crest of the Empakaai volcano, more striking to observe than the one in Ngorongoro’s, for its perfect circular shape and its impressive lake of deep alkaline waters. We’ll leave the bikes and have lunch. Then we will prepare for a trek of 4 km, by which we will descend to the base of the volcano Empakaai, where the lake is and where we will have the opportunity to see a great amount of animal fauna. We will do this while being accompanied by an armed ranger.

We will spend the night next to a park ranger in our wild camping site, on the crest of the crater, in the tents of the the special Empakaai camp.

Given the exclusive protection of the area in which it is located, no construction is allowed, so the bathroom will be portable and there will be shower.

Also, we will have a private chef who will prepare a delicious menu in a portable kitchen.

 Day 6 

VISIT TO THE ORPHANAGE & TRADITIONAL AFRICAN DINNER

 MTO WA MBU BIKE ROUTE TO MANYARA LAKE & WATERFALLS

 Beginner  [20 Km]

Once we have finished the fabulous breakfast prepared by our cook, we will get on the truck to enjoy a great panoramic view of the Ngorongoro caldera while descending from the top of the crater, towards Mto Wa Mbu.

Where, following our ideals of helping the communities that are in need, you will have the opportunity (if you wish) to visit one of the orphanages, with which Safari Africa and the NGO Moyoni (www.moyoni.org) collaborate directly.

You can personally donate clothes and/or school supplies, stuffed animals, toys, etc… in case you had brought them from your country of origin (for more information on what to donate or other humanitarian projects, you can request information directly from us). Also, whoever is interested, can visit a local craft market, in case you are interested in taking a souvenir – apart from what has already been lived – or any other thing for your friends and family.

After lunch, we will continue on a bike safari to Lake Manyara. This is an easy and short route that crosses villages, plantations, forests of acacias and banks, until reaching the lakeshore.

We will also go on a bike route to Miwaleni waterfalls, which we will be reached after crossing dense banana plantations. we can cool off and receive a natural water massage.

In the evening we will have a wonderful buffet dinner consisting of more than 8 different traditional African dishes, prepared by a local family in the middle of a banana plantation.

For the more lively, there is the option to visit a local pub and enjoy a very cool drink and Tanzanian music.

Also, whoever is interested will be able to visit a local handicraft market, in case you would like to take some souvenir, other than what has already been lived, or some souvenir for your friends and family.

We will spend the night at Twiga campsite lodge, located in the heart of Mto Wa Mbu, rooms with private shower and toilet. Swimming pool and internet.

 Day 7 

 INTERNACIONAL CONNECTION 

After breakfast, you will be picked up and taken to Zanzibar Airport, to take your international connecting flight. Depending on flight schedules, you could visit Stone Town (not included in the itinerary). You should bear in mind that you must be at the airport 2 hours in advance, at least.
